A TRIP DOWN THE WINTER ROAD

The winter road is open for only 3 months a year (January - March) and can be a dangerous road to travel.  It's steep, winding and is in constant need of repair and maintenance.

As a year-round highway, the Mackenzie Valley Highway would likely be much safer, made of more permanent materials and with a more gradual grading in most areas.

The production crew travelled from Norman Wells to Tulita and captured the following images.

TRUCKS

If you like trucks, you'll find them on the winter road.  Carrying building supplies, gasoline, groceries, clothing and so much more, the vehicles that traverse the road come in all shapes and sizes and travel in all kinds of weather, 24/7.
